Kiln Dried Firewood Logs

Freshly harvested wood contains a naturally high amount of water, between 65-90% depending on the species. Removing the water is known as seasoning. This term suggests a period of time, and for natural air drying up to two years is recommended. Unlike many other logs sold in nets, all our wood is hardwood, i.e. from trees that lose their leaves in the winter, such as oak.

Softwoods, (conifers) which we do not sell include spruce and pine and these burn much faster than hardwoods and have a tendency to spit and crackle.

Ash, Oak and Beech - only hardwoods and all kiln dried.

•Ash - The King of firewood. Produces both heat and bright flame - our favourite.
•Oak - Very dense so difficult to dry. Burns very slowly and gives off lots of heat.
•Beech - Produces good flame and heat. Has a tendency to spark.

All the wood is cut into small logs as soon as possible and stored under cover in cages to maximise drying. To make sure the wood is really dry we finish it off in our drying machine.

Certainly Wood Log Stores provide the perfect solution to make absolutely sure you only burn dry logs.
